Trichloroethylene
* TRICHLOROETHYLENE (TCE) *
As of 31st December 2010, Trichloroethylene (TCE) may not be used in an open top vapour degreaser system due to the ‘responsible care’ EU suppliers charter? The charter is an agreement signed by Dow Europe and Ineos Chlor the 2 main TCE manufacturers in Europe. This states that the manufacturers and their distributors will no longer supply end users with the product unless they can prove it is for use within a sealed, closed loop system.
Therefore, prior to the 31st December 2010 deadline, the options available for all open top TCE users are:-
Invest in new sealed plant to enable the continued use of TCE for the foreseeable future.
Change to an alternative safe solvent that can be used within your existing open top plant.
Invest in new open top plant using latest technology solvents
With the deadline looming, Core-Chem Ltd are trying to support existing TCE users with the legislative changes and also where necessary, in the change over between products.
If your preferred route is to continue using TCE, you must replace your existing open top system. We can supply the full equipment range and offer advice and guidance in this area. We can also show you the various equipment options that are available.
Alternatively, we are in the process of running free customer cleaning trials using safer alternative solvents for any solvent user exceeding the S.E.D. consumption limits.
