HOME CHEMICAL OPTIONS SOLVENTS AQUEOUS OTHER SPECIALITY AREAS

AQUEOUS

The list of advantages and disadvantages listed below covers the water based technology (in no particular order) as follows:

ADVANTAGES LIST (Not in any particular order)

•  Cheap initial cost
•  Operator risk low
•  Filters easy to change
•  Cheap chemistry front end
•  De-ionised water prevents staining
•  Fast cleaning process stages
•  Safe process
•  Low temperatures in first stages
•  Little chemical addition required
•  Will remove particulates efficiently

DISADVANTAGES LIST

•  Large footprint for equipment
•  Monitoring critical
•  Long process times for drying
•  Risk of water retention
•  High energy costs
•  High CO² levels
•  Components will be around 80ºC out of dryer
•  Filter changes needed frequently
•  High energy input
•  Often Impossible to cope with process volumes in the proposed machine
•  De ionised water expensive.
•  Must have chemical front end
•  Four stage process tanks
•  Humidity levels in production areas could increase
•  Water disposal and usage costs set to escalate due to CO² levels globally
•  Water consumption may be restricted in the same way that solvents are already
•  More filters to be changed
•  More frequent changing of process stages
•  Long process times may cause bottle necks in production
•  Spray wash systems are not always effective for precision component cleaning
